ECS Parents
We are excited to formally invite you to this year’s 2015 Literacy Night! This special event will take place April 9, 6:00-8:00pm at our East Campus. Along with getting to see what your child has been reading and writing, we are excited to welcome children’s author, illustrator, and speaker, Kristi Valiant, as our guest speaker for this fun event. This year we won’t be serving food, but we will be hosting a wide variety of student work displays, a Book Fair opportunity, along with literacy-based workshops throughout our school for you and your child to come and enjoy an evening centered around the work of our ECS readers and writers.
Here is the night’s itinerary...
6:00-6:45pm: Come & Go Classroom Visits (PK-3rd Grade)
6:00-6:45pm: Literacy Workshops in Media Center will include…
-Story Time w/ Kristi Valiant
-Shakespearean Photo Booth
-Mad Libs
-Puppet Shows

-Story Time w/ ECS Alumnae Students
-Student Work Displays
7:00-7:30pm: Guest Speaker (Kristi Valiant) in Auditorium
6:00-8:00: Book Fair Open & Passport Turn in:
As an incentive for our students, we will be providing all PK-3rd Grade students with a “Literacy Night Passport” for them to get stamped and be put into a drawing to become Librarian for the Day. Our 4th-8th grade students will be helping to lead our evening by running many of our literacy workshops and stamping passports. If you need assistance throughout the evening, please feel free to look to the leadership of one of our student volunteers.
Each third grade student will have a book on their desk that is filled with their own work ranging from creative writing to critical thinking. We hope you can stop in from 6:00-6:45 to see and take these books!
We look forward to having you join us on April 9 for an evening in celebration of reading and writing at ECS. Thank you in advance for coming and helping to make this special night such a success.
